Death Occurs at Memorial Hospital for Life-Long Resident
Mrs. A. P. Wheeler, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 87 years of age and her death resulted from complications incident to advanced age. She had been at the hospital a week when death occurred.
Mrs. Wheeler was the youngest of 11 children born to Allen and Rosa Walker. She was born northeast of Winterset, June 24, 1869. She was married to Avery Wheeler at the home of her mother on Sept. 23, 1888.
Their active years were spent in farming northeast of Winterset, until failing health compelled them to retire and move to Winterset 10 years ago. Their marriage lasted 66 years until Mr. Wheeler's death last year. Their only son, Clyde, died at the age of 18 months.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Paul Stevenson; a grandson, Wayne Stevenson; and three great grandchildren, all of Traer.
Funeral services will be held from the Jefferson U. B. church this Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be made in the cemetery there.
