JOHN W. HUSS Died Last Friday

John W. Huss, a life-long resident of Madison county, died last Friday at his home on East Filmore street in Winterset, after a brief period of failing health. He was 73 years of age.

Mr. Huss was born eight miles west of Winterset on March 5, 1874, the son of James and Mary Huss. In 1897 he was married to Myrtle L. Miller. They were the parents of 11 children. Two of the children, an infant son and Mrs. Lillie Johnson, preceded the father in death.

He and his wife had observed their Golden Wedding anniversary of Feb. 24th of this year.

Mr. Huss was a member of the Foursquare church here.

Surviving are his wife; nine children, Mrs. Mack Hildebrand, Mrs. Clyde Reed, and Mrs. Harold Mapes, all of Winterset, Mrs. Paul Oglesbee of Prole; Mrs. Loyd Kivett of New Market, Tenn., Mrs. Stanley Palmer of Burbank, Calif., Mrs. Phyllis Martin of Denver, Colo., and two sons, Emmett and Glenn Huss of Des Moines. He also leaves 31 grandchildren and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Gordon of South Dakota, Mrs. N. D. Gordon of Indianola, Mrs. Lena Ralston of Winterset, and Mrs. Frank Hockenberry of Doniphan, Nebr.

Funeral services were held Sunday from Anderson's home for funerals in charge of the Rev. L. A. Morrison, pastor of the Winterset Foursquare church. Burial was made in the (North) McDonald cemetery.
