Page 4BUTLER BIRD DIED IN DES MOINES
Butler Bird, a native of Madison county and long-time resident here, died last Thursday, May 22, at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. He was 85 years old. His death followed by a few days, a fall in which he had received a fractured hip.
Mr. Bird's wife died about two years ago. He is survived by three children, Mrs. Blanche Huff, Mrs. Beulah Cushman and Ralph Bird all of Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Des Moines and burial made in a cemetery there.

Services for William B. Bird. 85, of 325 S. E. Dunham ave., will be at 10:30 a. m. Saturday at the Hamilton funeral home. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery. Mr. Bird suffered a broken hip two weeks ago when he fell off the porch of his home. He died Thursday at Wilden Osteopathic hospital.
A native of Winterset, Mr. Bird, who had lived in Des Moines 51 years, was s member of the Methodist church at Winterset. He had been a night watchman for the Des Moines Railway Co., retiring in 1942.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Huff and Mrs. Beulah Cushman; a son, Ralph, all of Des Moines; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
