Rites Held for FLOYD KIRKLAND

Floyd C. Kirkland, a native and longtime resident of the Macksburg area, died at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset last Friday, July 19, 1974. He was 61 years of age.

Floyd Carlton Kirkland was born at Macksburg on January 17, 1913, the son of George and Myrtle Edgington Kirkland. He was married to Lucy Lorraine Lattig at Osceola on December 29, 1933.

Mr. Kirkland lived in Madison County for 47 of his 61 years, occupied as a farmer.

He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy, of Macksburg; and five children; George Kirkland of Lorimor; Gerald Kirkland of Montrose, Colorado; Mrs. Jim (Nancy) Smith of Naperville, Illinois; Dennis Kirkland of Macksburg; and Mrs. Eldon (Linda) Carson of Diagonal.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; three brothers; Harland Kirkland of Creston, Cleve Kirkland of Lorimor, and Ralph Kirkland of Macksburg; and two sisters; Mrs. Ivan (Grace) Younkin of San Diego, California; and Mrs. Chester (Dorothy) Young of Earlham.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 22, at the United Methodist Church in Macksburg, with the Rev. Willis Grant officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
