BUD WETZEL, Peru

Cecil H. “Bud” Wetzel, 81, of Peru died May 7, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 11, at the Peru United Methodist Church. Burial was at Peru Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Peru United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements were handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Bud Wetzel was born Feb. 5, 1928, to Ed and Daisy (Perkins) Wetzel of Britt. He was married to Jo (Vowell) Agan. Bud spent most of his life around the Peru area. He had been a lifetime farmer and also delivered propane for 18 years. He attended the Peru United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jo, of Peru; his children from a previous marriage to Marjorie (Hatfield) Wetzel — Kathy Lee of Winterset, Kay Colon of Summerville, S.C., and Harlan Wetzel of Peru; a brother, Everett Schreiber of Bloomington, Ill.; a sister, Lela Quinlin of Ankeny; and 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
