Our community was shocked Tuesday last upon hearing of the death of Emma Mercer, of northern Iowa. She leaves, besides a husband and a four-year-old daughter, her parental relatives and a host of friends here who mourn her loss. Surely Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Humbert are sadly bereaved, this being the third of their children to die in the past thirteen months, viz: Albert, in February, 1899, and Jennie, in November.
The funeral services were held at Mrs. Mercer’s old home. The body was shipped to Patterson Wednesday last and interred in the cemetery north of Patterson.
