LETA M. HUFFMAN, Winterset

Leta M. Huffman, 84, of Winterset, died April 27, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Leta M. (Gantt) Huffman, was born Oct. 2, 1924, to Edd and Grayce Gantt in Greenfield, Iowa. She married her husband of 63 years, Raymond E. Huffman, on Sept. 6, 1940.

A homemaker, Leta enjoyed traveling, playing the piano, and living life to its fullest. Leta and Ray moved to Lane County, Ore., after Ray was discharged from the military, where they resided for 43 years. In 1991, Leta and Ray, along with their daughter and famiy, returned to Winterset where she resided on their Century Farm for the remainder of her days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edd and Grayce Gantt; five sisters, Florence, Lillian, Mildred, Thelma and Lola; and her husband, Raymond Huffman.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Akers (husband Gene) of Winterset; two grandsons, Mike Akers of Winterset and Jeremiah Akers (wife Jacey) of Winterset; two sons, Cliff Huffman and family of Eugene, Ore., and Jerry Huffman and family of Springfield, Ore.; and three special nephews, Charles Anthony of Cottage Grove, Ore., Marvin Anthony of Eugene, Ore.; and Donald Anthony of Clear Lake, Calif.

Leta was a great mother and will be dearly missed.

Note: Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
