NIADA MCFARLAND,WINTERSET

Niada Mae “Ma” McFarland, 79, of Winterset died April 25, 2009, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 30, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. Visitation with family will be from 6–8 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 29) at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Burial will be at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in Niada’s name.

Niada Mae McFarland was born April 19, 1930, in Leon to Arthur and Helen (Adair) Honn. Later her mother married Bunk Roland, who helped raise Niada. Her marriage to Jack McFarland took place in 1946 in Missouri. Niada was employed by Winterset Care Center North as a dietician for 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Bobbi Parrish and Iona Ruth Taylor.

She is survived by her eight children — Pamela Sato of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Ricky McFarland of Des Moines, and Michael McFarland, Jerry McFarland, René Klingaman, Becky McFarland, Geoffrey McFarland, and Rodney McFarland, all of Winterset; three sisters, Yvonne Andrew of Grand River, Sarah Ann Riggs of Norwalk, and Marian Grimm of Van Wert; and 24 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
