Roscoe Pollitt, 93, died April 10, 2009, at his home in Truro.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 14, at the Truro Congregational UCC Church with Pastor Carol Immatteo-Code officiating. Burial was at the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset. Arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Truro and Osceola.
Rosco Pollitt was born May 5, 1915, in Indianola, Ill., to Harvey and Alice (Yates) Pollitt. His marriage to Grace Rice took place Nov. 10, 1934, in Danville, Ill. Rosco raised hogs in Illinois before moving to Iowa in 1950, where he was employed at three different hog operations. In 1965, he started his own hog operation southwest of Truro. He also worked at the Truro Grain Elevator and drove a school bus for Interstate 35 Community School. He was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife; four brothers, Louis, Noble, Clarence and a brother in infancy; two sisters, Louise Sitten and Pearl Harrison; and a grandson, Jeffrey.
He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Murrow of Ellston, Doris Brown of Osceola, and Carol Spurlock of North Ft. Myers, Fla.; a sister, Betty Waterman of Georgetown, Ill.; and five grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.
