RICHARD COBEAN, Winterset

Richard A. Cobean, 96, died March 12, 2009, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 14, at the West Linn Cemetery in rural Linden with Pastor Linda Burnett officiating. Arrangements were handled by Kuhn Funeral Homes of Dexter, Earlham and Redfield.

Richard Cobean was born Feb. 27, 1913, to Winfield Scott and Mabel Lucinda (White) Cobean of rural Linden in Dallas County. He attended elementary school in Linden and eventually moved to Earlham, where he and his brother, LeRoy, lived for many years. Richard was self-employed as a day laborer, mostly within the agricultural business. He also mowed lawns and shoveled snow for many people in Earlham. In 1994, Richard moved to a care center in Des Moines and in 1997, moved to West Bridge in Winterset.

He leaves no known family.
