Kathy Niblo, 50, of Waukee, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Doug; their three children, Erin (Niblo) Williams, of Lawrence, KS, Jeff (Ana) Niblo, of Oxnard, CA, Cade Niblo, at home; and grandchildren Mason and Mikyla Williams, of Lawrence, KS. Also included in the immediate family are her father and mother, George and Beverly Myers, of Grove, OK; her sisters, Teri O’Leary, of Coralville, IA; Judi (Dean) Martens, of Pleasant Hill, IA, Mary Lou Myers, Winterset, IA, Nancie (Randy) Dorrell, Winterset, IA; and brothers, Steve (Brenda) Myers, of Eagan, MN, Mike (Rishell) Myers, of Newton, IA, and Ed (Nancy) Myers, of Ankeny, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her precious family, Kathy was surrounded and loved by a large extended family, including her Waukee school and church families. She was an employee of the Waukee Schools for over 20 years, and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Her faith was strengthened by her "Amazing Women" Cancer Prayer Group of whom she referred to as her guardian angels.
Her family wants to thank all of the wonderful caregivers, especially those at Mercy Medical Center, (8 South). The faith, care, and compassion of oncologist, Dr. Bradley Lair and his staff at Medical Oncology, Radiology Oncologist, Dr. Richard Deming and his staff at Mercy Therapeutic Radiology, and surgeon, Dr. Dennis Whitmer have been magnificent. The short visit at Mercy Hospice in Johnston was comforting in her final hours.
Services will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee, Iowa. Visitation will be Monday, March 2, 2009, from 4 to 7 p.m., with the family present at 5 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., both at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Boniface Religious Education Program, or to Waukee Community Schools to establish a memorial scholarship in Kathy’s name.
