David M. Tomlinson was born in Champaign county, Ohio, September 29, 1835. In the year 1859 he was married to Susannah Hann, and to them were born five children, one daughter and four sons, the daughter and one son having gone before to enter the land of rest.

His first wife departed from this earth April 10, 1902 leaving a husband and three sons to mourn her loss. He was again married to Mrs. S. E. Gray in 1903 and to them many a happy day was spent.

He departed this life February 23, 1906, having been sick only a few days. He leaves a wife, three sons and eight step children and seven grand children to mourn his loss. He converted and joined the M. E. church at the age of nineteen and has lived by God's rule until death.

He moved to Iowa in the year 1869 and has been a resident of Winterset many years. He was a member of the 55th Ohio regiment in which he served two years in the service of his country. He was a good man and loved by all who knew him.

The funeral occurred at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Matheny and the beloved father was laid to rest in the cemetery at Peru.

David Tomlinson, an old resident of the county, died Friday morning at his home, of pneumonia. He had been sick but a few days, but owning to the nature of the disease his death was expected.

The funeral occurred Saturday morning from the Methodist church, of which he had long been a member, and was conducted by Rev. Matheny/ The services were in charge of Pitzer Post.
