Wednesday, May 7, 1913EMERY SAMUEL ROBINSON
Emery Samuel Robinson was born in Barbour county, West Virginia on April 20, 1841, and died at Truro, Iowa, April 30, 1913, aged 72 years and ten days.
He came with his parents to New Virginia, Warren county, Iowa, when about 12 years old, where he lived until August 17, 1862, when he enlisted in the 39th Iowa Infantry, and was discharged on June 5, 1865. He returned to New Virginia, where he made his home until June, 1867, when he was married to Mahala Edith Bradshaw, when they began their home on the farm one mile east of Truro. To this union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy. The others are Mrs. Clara Ellen Irwin of New Virginia, James Wesley and Charles Williams of Truro. His wife departed this life on April 25, 1884. He was united in marriage to Rachel Ann Burt, Oct. 18, 1888. In the spring of 1900, they moved to Truro, where they have since made their home. She departed this life Feb. 15, 1913, preceding him just two months and fifteen days.
He was converted and united with the M. E. church at Truro about twenty years ago, and has since been a faithful follower of Christ. His health began to decline about last October, and since that time he has been a constant sufferer, but said he was resigned to the will of his Heavenly Father.
He was a kind father, a devoted husband, a good neighbor and a sincere chrisitian, and will be missed by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss, two sons, one daughter, four grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends.
