Paul Ferdinand Clausen was born January 3, 1910 to Anton and Amalia Wishmier Clausen in Madison County, Iowa. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, Iowa, having been baptized January 23, 1910 and confirmed June 29, 1924.

He was graduated from Earlham High School in 1928 and attended Earlham Junior College and Iowa State University at Ames. On March 3, 1940 he was united in marriage with Helen Piper. On leaving the farm in 1948, he taught Veteran’s School for two years, then was Sunoco-DX Bulk Station Agent at Dexter until his retirement in 1978.

Paul held many church offices, was Sunday School teacher and Youth Group leader. He also served the Dexter School Board during reorganization.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen; his sister, Mrs. Lenore Algreen of Earlham; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted January 17, 1987 at Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, Iowa, with Pastor David Rempher officiating. Joanne Smith was organist. Pallbearers were Ted Clausen, David Clausen, Ryan Clausen, Larry Clausen, James Clausen and John Piper. Honorary pallbearers were James Waddell, Kevin Waddell, Wayne Waddell, Jon Waddell and Robert Morgan.
