Edna Marie Pinckney, Rodgers, Ar.

Edna Marie Pinckney, 88, of Rodgers, AR, formerly of Iowa Falls, IA, passed away on January 23, 2009 at Golden Living Center, Rodgers, AR, after several years of declining health. Despite her declining health and loss of memory, she always had a smile for her loved ones. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at Moon Cemetery in Macksburg , Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 PM Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls. Linn's Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Edna was born September 6, 1920 in Madison County, IA and lived on a farm all her childhood around the Macksburg, Iowa area. She was the fifth child and only girl born to William A. Kirkland & Lula Iiams Kirkland.

Edna attended Macksburg High School and married Ralph on May 10, 1938. They moved to Truro, IA where Ralph worked at the Riggle Hardware Store. Edna gave birth to their first daughter, Dixie Lea, while living there. A few years later Ralph joined the Army Air Force and moved the little family to Coffeeville, KS, where Edna had another daughter, Diane Lea. After the war they moved to the old Pinckney farm near Macksburg where they lived for a few years. They moved to Winterset, IA in 1954, where Edna worked in a restaurant but eventually moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa in 1958. Edna worked at Farmland Industries until she retired in 1981. After that she and Ralph traveled a lot in their fifth wheel, eventually ending up in Arkansas where their daughters lived. After Ralph died, Edna sold her house in Iowa Falls and moved to Arkansas to be near her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iowa Falls and later attended the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Rogers, AR.

Edna was a devoted wife and mother and will be remembered for her artistic abilities and unfailing calmness during a crises as well as a loving and faithful person.

She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses, Dixie & Everett Jeffs of Rogers, Arkansas; Diane & Neil Bloxham of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Edna’s memory lives on through her two daughters, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, four brothers; and husband, Ralph O. Pinckney, who passed away on March 10, 1995.

EDNA PINCKNEY, ARKANSAS

Edna Marie Pinckney, 88, of Rogers, Ark., died Jan. 23, 2009, after several years of declining health.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Moon Cemetery in rural Macksburg. Arrangements were handled by Linn’s Funeral Home in Iowa Falls.

Edna Pinckney was born Sept. 6, 1920, in Madison County to William A. and Lula Iiams Kirkland and attended Macksburg High School. On May 10, 1938, she married Ralph O. Pinckney. Following their marriage, they resided in Truro. During World War II, they moved to Coffeeville, Kan., where Ralph was stationed with the Army Air Force. After the war, they moved to the Pinckney family farm near Macksburg. In 1954, they moved to Winterset where Edna worked in a restaurant. In 1958, they moved to Iowa Falls where Edna worked at Farmland Industries until retiring in 1981. Following Ralph’s death, Edna moved to Arkansas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iowa Falls and attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Rogers, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Jeffs of Rogers, Ark., and Diane Bloxham of Pea Ridge, Ark.; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
