Robert Rawson Neal was born to Maurice and Zedonna Rawson Neal on October 15, 1928 in Dexter, Iowa. He spent his younger years in Dexter and graduated from Dexter High School at the age of 17. He married Donnabelle Sandusky in January, 1949 and began the farming career that continued throughout his life.

He passed away May 24, 1985.

Bob, or Rawson, as he was known to many, thrived on meeting the challenge of developing a successful business from a small beginning. His family will remember him as a source of guidance, strength, humor and the center of family unity. He greatly enjoyed his nine grandchildren. Bob was a member of the Dexter Masonic Lodge.

He leaves to mourn his wife Donnabelle, of Dexter; four children, Steven of St. Charles, Barbara Kalbach of Stuart, Gregg of Houston, Texas, and Jean Scott of Des Moines; three brothers, James of Nokesville, Virginia, Richard of Des Moines, Craig of Orient and a sister, Emily Sulgrove of Dexter. He also leaves a host of friends and will be deeply missed by all of us.

Funeral services were conducted May 26, 1985 at the Dexter Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Al Polito, Jr. officiating. Organ music was provided by Donna Belle Miller and soloist was La Vona Lee. Pallbearers were Rex Schulz, John Mitchell, Don Kalbach, Jim Kress, John Sandusky, Ron Sandusky, Burl Sandusky and Dwight Jamison. Interment was in Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, Iowa.

Transcriber’s note: Robert Rawson Neal lived in Madison County, Iowa for many years, farming in Jackson township.
