Ethel S. Standing, 89, formerly of Earlham, passed away September 15, 1984 at Valley View Manor Nursing Home in Muscatine, Iowa, of natural causes. Memorial services were held at Valley View Chapel in Muscatine September 18 with burial in the Bear Creek Cemetery, rural Earlham.

Ethel was born in Earlham, February 17, 1895, the daughter of George and Sarah (Nicholson) Standing. She taught school at Ottumwa High School for over 35 years. She was a member of the Earlham Friends Church.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her niece, Jan Biere of Muscatine.
