George Benton McCurdy was born June 24, 1877 at New Castle, Monroe county, Ohio, and passed away January 20, 1936 at Earlham, Iowa. He was the son of the late Isaac and Elizabeth Straight McCurdy. He was united in marriage with Mary Margaret Stewart on May 20, 1903 at Bannock, Ohio.

Mr. McCurdy is survived by his wife and two children, Martha McCurdy, at home, and Stewart McCurdy of Paullina, Iowa. One daughter died in infancy.

He became a member of the local Church of Christ in the fall of 1925.

Mr. McCurdy is also survived by one brother, Okey J. McCurdy of Williamstown, W. Va., and two sisters, Mrs. C. W. Norris of New Castle, Ohio, and Mrs. J. W. Butt of Oakland, Md., and one granddaughter Barbara McCurdy of Paullina, Iowa.

The body was taken to Belmont, Ohio. Mrs. McCurdy and Miss Martha accompanied. The final rites were held Friday afternoon at two o’clock at the home of Mrs. McCurdy’s mother, Mrs. Martha Stewart. Burial was in the Belmont cemetery.

G. B. McCURDY DIED MONDAY AFTERNOON

In Failing Health for Over a Year, Body Taken to Belmont, Ohio, for Burial.

George B. McCurdy, 58, died at his home in Earlham at 2:00 o’clock Monday afternoon. He had been in poor health for more than a year.

A short funeral service attended by members of the immediate family and two sisters of Mrs. McCurdy from Perry, was held at the Welch Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Walter Feay of Memphis, Missouri, was in charge.

The body, accompanied by members of the family, was placed on the eastbound train Tuesday evening. Burial was to be at Belmont, Ohio, the family’s former home.

Mr. McCurdy is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary McCurdy, a daughter, Martha McCurdy who is a teacher in the Earlham school and a son Stewart and his wife of Paullina, Iowa.
