August 1927Obituary
Following many months suffering from complication that baffled all human skill, Isabella McQuie Moore entered into the rest that remaineth for God’s chosen ones, passing away on Sunday evening, Aug. 23, at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 10 days; having entered this life June 15, 1870 in Knox County, Illinois.
At the age of ten months she came to Madison County, Iowa, with father, mother, brothers and sisters. Here she received her education and training that fitted her for life and its usefulness.
On March 1, 1894, Isabella McQuie was united in marriage with Asa L. Moore, at the home of Rev. Evans at Pitzer, and into his home circle thus formed she brought a wealth of love, devotion, patient, and simple ministry; and today there are but few of whom it could more truly be said “The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her.”
During the years, these have come to gladden this happy home: Bruce, Eva, Fred, Clara and Grace. All have found joy in ministering to their mother during the months of her invalidism.
Mrs. Moore made the good confession under the ministry of Rev. James at Early Chapel, and has found real joy in Christian services. Her faithful attendance at church and Sunday School and other various services of the church is a beautiful thing to be long remembered.
Through all the years she has been a dutiful daughter, a faithful wife and a most devoted and loving mother. She leaves in sorrow her husband, her children and one much loved grandson, Wilbur Moore; three sisters, Mrs. George Junkin of Dexter, Maggie, Jennie McQuie; three brothers, Alexander, Peter and William McQuie, together with many other relatives and hosts of friends who mourn.
The beautiful life that has gone from among us was filled with loving devotion and service, the memory of which will be a constant benediction and a heritage to her loved ones.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. Clare McCollon at the Early Chapel Church of Christ. Burial was in Penn Center Cemetery.
