Roger Lee Gilman, 63, of Eau Claire, Wis., died Jan. 5, 2009.

A visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 16, from 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel in Altoona, Wis. A memorial service will follow at 5:30 p.m. A visitation also will be held in Earlham on Friday, Jan. 23, from 2–4 p.m. at the Earlham Community Center. A private burial will take place in the spring at Penn Center Cemetery in rural Earlham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the funeral home at 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI 54720.

Roger Gilman was born Aug. 8, 1945, to Everett and Mabel (Boyle) Gilman of Earlham. He attended Earlham Community School, graduating in 1963. Following graduation, he moved to Des Moines and worked for Hy-Line. Roger was drafted into the United States Army in 1964, and served in Vietnam from 1965–67. Following his discharge, he returned to Des Moines and worked for Patzig Laboratories and then Nabisco Food Products. In 1975, Roger moved to Eau Claire as part of a transfer and continued to work for Nabisco until 1997. He then worked at Badger West Wine & Spirits as a sales representative where he remained employed until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two daughters, Jaala Knowlton and Jill Siikarla; three siblings, Pat Greenwell of Sun City, Ariz., Beverly Powell of Des Moines and Marlin Gilman of Earlham; and six grandchildren.
