James Ambrose Randall was born in Crawford county, Indiana, on February 5, 1867 and departed this life at the home of his son in Des Moines, September 3, 1947 at the age of 80 years, six months and 2 days.

When a small boy, he moved with his parents to Dallas county, Iowa, where he spent many years. Later, he moved to Madison county which was his home until the last few months which were spent in Des Moines, at the hospital and in his son’s home. When a child he lived in what is known as the “Otterman Neighborhood” and made many life long friends. He became a member of the Methodist church in De Soto when a young man and later transferred his membership to the Penn Center church after moving to Penn township.

He was married on April 14, 1892 to Pearl Carl and to this union was born one son, Carl. His wife preceded him in death on May 4, 1940. He was a kind father and a good neighbor.

He leaves to mourn his death, his son Carl A. of Des Moines, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two brothers, Otis of Villah, Washington, and Joe of Armington, Montana, two sisters, Mrs. J. O. Pine, Kennewick, Washington, and Mrs. O. A. Kelley of De Soto, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Note: Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
