DOROTHY MCKEEVER, WINTERSET

Dorothy J. McKeever, 47, of Winterset died Dec. 18, 2008, at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Middle River Hospice in Winterset or Mercy Hospice, Johnston. Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Dorothy McKeever was born Feb. 5, 1961, in Fulton, N.Y., to Charles and Shirley (Thompson) Belden and was a graduate of Phoenix High School in Fulton. Following graduation, she enlisted in the United States Army, serving her country for the next several years. After her discharge from the military, Dorothy worked in several management level jobs. When her children were raised, she again joined the military — enlisting with the Iowa Army National Guard in 1999. Her marriage to Mark McKeever took place Feb. 13, 2002, at the Madison County Courthouse. Dorothy was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving from December 2003 to February of 2005. She was stationed in Kuwait with the 1088th Personnel Service Detachment. The 1088th processed incoming units into the Iraq theater.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepdaughter, Brooke McKeever.

She is survived by her husband, Mark, of Winterset; her two children, Julie Goodrich of Des Moines and Kyle Goodrich of Ames; four stepchildren — Mark McKeever Jr. of Creston, Lindsay McKeever of Polk City, and Jennifer McKeever and Justin McKeever, both of Winterset; five sisters, Cynthia J. Lowe of Norwich, N.Y., Jessica Belden of Sioux City, Lynn Richtsmeier of Ackley, and Barbara Lawton and Pati Jo Miller, both of Cherokee; two brothers, Donald Belden of Buckeye and Charles Belden Jr. of Cherokee; and five grandchildren.

DOROTHY J. MCKEEVER Winterset

Dorothy J. McKeever, 47, of Winterset, went to be with her Lord Thursday, December 18, 2008, at Mercy Hospice Johnston.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday December 22 at the First United Methodist Church, Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 21 at Ochiltree Funeral Service; where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. Dorothy was born February 5, 1961 in Fulton, NY, the daughter of Charles and Shirley (Thompson) Belden. Dorothy graduated from Phoenix High School in Fulton, NY and following graduation she enlisted in the United States Army, serving her country for the next several years. Dorothy is survived by her spouse, Mark McKeever; her two children, Julie Goodrich and fiancée Jason Spong of Des Moines, Kyle Goodrich of Ames; four step-children, Mark McKeever, Jr. and Jessica of Creston, Jennifer McKeever of Winterset, Lindsay McKeever and fiancée Will Cannon of Polk City, Justin McKeever of Winterset; five grandchildren (Johnny, Keelyn, Breckyn, Bryce, and Sean); five sisters, Cynthia J (CJ) Lowe and Peter DiNicola, of Norwich, NY, Barbara Lawton of Cherokee, Lynn Richtsmeier and Duane of Ackley, Pati Jo Miller and Fred of Cherokee, Jessica Belden and Doug Sliter of Sioux City; two brothers, Donald Belden and DaVina of Buckeye, Charles Belden Jr. and Barbara of Cherokee; two uncles, William and Sharon Parker, Wesley and Judy Belden and one aunt, Doris Thompson; 20 nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-daughter, Brooke McKeever.
