Maude Leona Kirby

Services for Maude Leona Kirby, 81, of Winterset, who died Aug. 7, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, were held Friday, Aug. 10 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.

Born in Dallas County on March 26, 1903, she was the daughter of William and Phelena McGee Sumpter. A retired cook, she had worked at the Knotty Pine, Club Cafe and Grace's for a number of years.

She married Dale Kirby on Dec. 10, 1955 in Audubon County, but lived in the Winterset area most of her life Mrs. Kirby was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Lyle Fish and George Eldon Hunt, both of Winterset; sisters, Lucile Bartmess and Pauline Clark, both of Winterset; nine grand children and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and sister.
