Obituary

Nellie C. Rhoten, the eldest child of Jacob and Pauline Gehring Lenocker, was born September 10, 1881 in Madison County, Iowa. She passed away July 1, 1982 at the Adel Acres Care Center.

Nellie spent most of her life in the Dexter community. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Dexter and the American Legion Auxiliary. In July, 1973, failing health made it necessary for her to make her home at the Adel Acres Care Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Loma Huhn of Adel and Mrs. Pauline Horner of Puyallup, Washington; two sons, Carlton Williams of Woodland Hills, California and Robert Williams of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Dalen of Des Moines and Mrs. Helen Linn of Brookings, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and nine great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, six sisters and her husbands.

Services were held July 3, 1982 at the Dexter United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jerry Evelsizer officiating. Mrs. Nadine Shepherd accompanied the congregational singing of “The Lord’s Prayer.” Casket bearers were Allen Atherton, John Shepherd, Harold Sandahl, Carroll Beane, Jerry Johnson and Harold Sandahl Jr. Interment was at the Dexter cemetery.
