Obituary

Anna S. Martens was born on December 30, 1898 in Boone county, Iowa, a daughter of Nicholas and Anna Fritch Boos, and passed away on January 29, 1979 at Madison County Memorial Hospital. She was 80 years and 29 days old at the time of her death.

On February 19, 1919, she was united in marriage to Louis W. Martens, and to this union three sons were born, Eugene W., Kenneth N., and Gordon L. She lived all of her adult life in Madison and Dallas counties and moved to Van Meter after the death of her husband on July, 1967. In November, 1976, she entered Villa West Nursing Home at Winterset, and on January 22 she entered the hospital where she quietly passed away after having a severe stroke.

Funeral services were held on February 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Van Meter where she was a faithful member for many years. Rev. E. A. Breiholz conducted the services, and she was buried in the Lutheran cemetery.

She is survived by three sons, Eugene of Dexter, Kenneth of Aurora, Colorado, and Gordon of Booneville; two sisters, Elsie Ziemann of Indianola, Clara Martens of rural Winterset; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
