Arthur Duane Fairholm was born to Arthur and Daisy Fairholm October 22, 1913. Around his fifth birthday, he was stricken with a high fever from a serious illness that destroyed his vocal cords, handicapping him for life. He died December 15, 1977, at the age of 64.
Services were held by Ewing Funeral Home of Fontanelle, but Mr. Fairholm was taken to his home in Earlham Friday afternoon to lie in state until the funeral service at Gospel Chapel in Menlo at 1:30 p.m., Saturday. Norman Koons conducted the service and music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Welker of Menlo. Burial was at Massena.
Duane leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Advin Gingerich, and three brothers, Raymond of Denver, Meritt of Waterloo, and Don of Elk Run Heights; also a niece, Mrs. Richard D. Fisher of Des Moines and other nieces and nephews.
He was a resident of Earlham for the past 33 years, making his home with his sister, Mrs. Advin Gingerich, after the death of his parents.
Mr. Fairholm died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.
