Merritt Scott Moore, the son of Merritt Scott and Stella Marlin Moore and a former Earlham resident, died at his home in Solon, Iowa, September 6, 1972.

He was born September 20, 1903, in Grundy County, Missouri. As a young man he engaged in farming in Missouri. In 1926 he married Lana Olive Burton and four children were born to this union. He became involved in construction work in 1942 and later moved to Earlham, serving as Superintendent of the Earlham Quarry until his retirement in 1968. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Adel, and Masonic Lodge No. 568, Earlham.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a brother and a sister. Survivors include his children: Imogene Kasal of Earlham, Ivan Moore of Rockwell City, Twila Compton of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Dale Moore of Solon, Iowa. Also surviving are two brothers, a sister, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild.
