Obituary

George Elmer McCorkle passed away at the Dexter Clinic hospital Tuesday, December 16, 1975, at the age of 92 years, one month, and 25 days. George was born October 21, 1883 in Madison county, Iowa, and spent his entire life in Madison and Dallas counties.

He was united in marriage to Edith Benjamin on February 22, 1906 and to this union four children were born. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1966.

He was preceded in death by his wife Edith in 1966, and a daughter Lois Gieber in 1972.

Survivors include two daughters, Gladys Loschen of Van Meter, Jeanette Rold of Omaha, Neb., one son Walter of Independence, Iowa; four sisters; nine grandchildren, one step granddaughter, and eleven great grandchildren.

He was a member of the United Methodist church of Earlham. George McCorkle was a wonderful father, and will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites were held on Friday, December 19 at the United Methodist church in Earlham. The Rev. Donald L. Harbour officiated. Mrs. Marlin Brittain provided appropriate music at the organ.

Casket bearers were Bob Bedwell, Frank Inman, Claude Peer, Leonard Scar, Earl Schalkle and Wayne Swallow. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
