Obituary

Nellie Mabel Mitchell, only child of Marlin and Mariah Curts, was born in Dallas County, Iowa, June 1, 1894.

After attending the Earlham Academy and teaching school in rural Dallas County, she was united in marriage to Earl Mitchell on June 1, 1916. To this union was born two children: Gerald E. and Mary Marguerite. They engaged in farming near Earlham, Iowa before moving to Indianola, Iowa in 1942.

Nellie was a lifelong member of the Friends Church, transferring her membership to the Indianola Friends shortly after moving.

She entered Mercy Hospital on April 23, 1974 and passed away at Medicenters of America on May 11, 1974 at the age of 79 years, 11 months, and 10 days.

At the age of 4 years her mother passed away. Also preceding her in death were her father, step-mother, and husband.

Left to mourn their loss are son, Gerald of Council Bluffs; daughter Marguerite Foust of Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Christine Mitchell, son-in-law, Newell Foust; grandchildren, Larry Mitchell, and wife Wanda, of Council Bluffs, Marjean and Eric Foust; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Leo Conrad and Mrs. Walter Mapes, both of Earlham, Iowa; plus nieces and nephews, and many friends.
