Obituary

Earl Earnest Nellis was born to Robert L. and Julia Nolte Nellis in Muscatine County February 16, 1889 and passed away at his home in Earlham, July 14, 1973 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 28 days. In 1897 he moved to the Penn Center neighborhood with his parents and 4 brothers.

He was united in marriage to Louise Thornton October 2, 1913. Earl’s life vocation was farming and after their marriage they farmed near Earlham for 16 years. The next 32 years were spent on the farm near Woodward, Iowa.

Because of failing health he retired from the farm and moved to Earlham in 1963.

Survivors are the wife, one brother Merl of Penn Center, two sister-in-laws, Martha Nellis and Alta Nellis, other relatives and friends.

Earl has been an active member of the Earlham Friends Church for more than 60 years.

Note: Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
