Obituary

Irene Pearl Jensen, daughter of Henry and Emma Vogel Fett, was born in Madison County, Iowa, on January 14, 1893. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter. She received her education in the Winterset and rural schools south of Dexter.

On February 18, 1914 she was united in marriage to Carl Jensen who preceded her in death in 1958. One daughter was born to this union. The family lived on a farm south of Dexter until 1934 when they purchased a hardware store in Dexter which Irene continued to operate with her husband and for two more years after his death. For the last two years she had been a resident of the Villa West Care Center in Winterset.

She passed away in Des Moines on Thursday, November 20, at the age of 82 yrs., 10 mo., and 6 days. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Herman (Eileen) Lager of Earlham, one granddaughter, Mrs. Walter Henkle, one great grandson, Danny Henkle, and one sister, Mrs. Cora Hill. She was a chartered member of Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid, a member of the Lutheran Senior Fellowship and also of the Iris Garden Club.

Memorial services were held Sunday, November 23, 1975 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman M. Luecht officiating. The casket bearers were James F. Adkins, Bill Algreen, Howard Benz, Kenneth Brinton, Robert Hester and Carl Jobst. Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery under the direction of McKee Funeral Homes.
