Obituary

Ella Wilhelmina Willrich, the daughter of Edward Scar and Elizabeth, nee Fett, was born in Madison county, Iowa on January 21, 1891. She was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Dexter, on May 10, 1891 and confirmed on April 16, 1905. She received her education at Earlham Academy.

On January 14, 1914 she was united in marriage with John Willrich. This union was blessed with two children. She lived with her husband on a farm south of Dexter until 1939 when they moved into Dexter.

Mrs. Willrich was a member of Zion Lutheran Church during her life time. She held various offices in the church Ladies’ Aid and was one of its charter members. She was also a member of the church’s Senior Fellowship, the Dexter Twentieth Century Club, the Medley Garden Club, the Hobby Club and the Legion Auxiliary.

She passed away at the Dexter hospital on Tuesday, September 26, at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 5 days. Her parents and her son, Paul, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, John, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Douville of Chamberlain, South Dakota; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles Scar of Dexter, and Fred Scar of Earlham.

Memorial services were held on Thursday, September 28, at Zion Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norman Luecht officiating. Interment was in the Dexter Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Norman Scar, Leonard Scar, Carl Jobst, Eugene Martens, Dale Mueller and Marvin Wedemeyer.
