Helen Lucettia Stout, 83, of Agency, Mo., died Oct. 31, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in St. Joseph, Mo., with the Rev. William Wasson officiating. Burial was at Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to V.F.W. Post 6760 Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements were handled by Rupp Funeral Home in St. Joseph, Mo.
Helen Stout was born Feb. 11, 1925, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Matt H. and Lucettia Miller. She graduated from Easton High School and attended Platte Business College. In January 1950, she married Marvin Stout in Des Moines. They resided in Ames for 20 years, then Winterset for 20 years, and for the past 20 years, Agency, Mo. Helen worked at the Gold Buffet Restaurant in Winterset and at various nursing homes. She also was a member of the Sunshine Club of Iowa, Frazier Club, Agency Homemakers Club and V.F.W. Post 6760 Auxiliary, of which she served as chaplain.
She was preceded in death by one son, Matt Stout; one daughter, Susie Stout; a brother, John Miller; and a sister, Thelma Clinton.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin, of Agency, Mo.; three sons, Wayne Stout of Ames, Ted Stout of Winterset and Bill Stout of Boone; three foster children; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Helen also raised her brother’s eight children following his death.
