Obituary

James Edgar Dunbar, son of Loren and Belle Dunbar was born near Dallas Center, Nov. 29, 1901 and after bidding his family a tender farewell, fell quietly asleep at their country home Friday evening, Jan. 28, 1927, having been spared to his friends and loved ones twenty-five years, one month and twenty-one days.

He came with his parents to their present home when two years old.

He entered the country schools for a time, then attended the school at De Soto, after which he graduated with honors from the Earlham high school with the class of 1923.

Never having been a very rugged boy his physician advised a change of climate and in the fall of this same year he went to Lake Arthur, New Mexico. From there he went to Arizona, remained but a short time and returned to New Mexico, where he spent some time, later coming home. On the fifteenth of last July he went to Oakdale, and from there to Iowa City where he stayed from October 10 until December 17, when he came home.

Edgar was a young man of pleasing personality, very kind and considerate and much loved by those who knew him.

He united with the Methodist church while in New Mexico, and in his life was exemplified a beautiful Christian character.

He leaves to mourn his going his father, mother, three sisters, Mrs. Della Gilbert, of Earlham; Mrs. Elsie Stump, of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Hazel Hummell of De Soto, four brothers: Burt of De Soto, Percy, Harry and Tony of Earlham, and many friends. Two sisters, Jessie and Margaret, preceded him. The family were all present to care for him at the time of his death.

Note: Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
