Services Held for Nora Wengert

Funeral services for Nora M. Wengert were conducted Tuesday afternoon, July 29, in the Earlham United Methodist church. Mrs. Wengert passed away Saturday night at Des Moines General hospital, following surgery which was performed last Monday.

Rev. John Baxter conducted last rites. Organ music was provided by Dolores Summy and the church floral committee had charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Jim Guisinger, James Welch, Lyman Oaks, William Black, George Prohaska and Mervyn McLennan. Interment was in Wall Lake cemetery at Wall Lake, Iowa.

Evans Service directed the services.

Obituary

Nora M. Herrig Wengert, daughter of Helena and August Herrig, one of four children, was born June 18, 1895 on a farm in the Wall Lake community, Sac County, Iowa.

She passed away July 26, 1969 at the Des Moines General hospital in Des Moines. She was 74 years, 1 month and 8 days of age.

She lived in the Wall Lake area until her marriage in 1913 to Hugo Marten of Walnut. They farmed in the Atlantic and Lake View areas until moving to Des Moines in 1927. To this union six daughters were born: Harriet, Evelyn, Delphine, Gladys, Marjorie and Nona Jeanne.

Harriet preceded her mother in death at the age of two in 1916. The surviving daughters are: Evelyn Pieart of Colfax, Delphine Smith of Des Moines, Gladys Robuck of El Monte, California, Marjorie Marshall of Long Beach, California and Nona Jeanne Smith of Des Moines.

She was a member of the Lutheran church all her life until moving to the Earlham community.

On October 29, 1960 she was married to Frank Wengert and with him has faithfully served the United Methodist church of Earlham.

She is survived by her husband, Frank; five daughters; one stepdaughter, Anna Marie Mainard of Des Moines; two brothers, Ross Herrig of Corsica, South Dakota, and Ed Herrig of Wall Lake; nineteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, July 29, at the United Methodist church in Earlham. The Rev. John Baxter was in charge. Interment was at the Wall Lake cemetery, Wall Lake, Iowa.
