Obituary

Bertha M. Gensicke Gonseth of Winterset passed away Thursday, April 17, 1969 at Memorial hospital in Winterset at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 12 days. She was born in Ida County, Iowa, October 4, 1888. She was married to Felix Gonseth February 25, 1907 in Winterset. He preceded her in death June 17, 1962.

To this union, three children were born: Fred and Charles of Earlham and Emma Gene Binns of Winterset. She also leaves eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

She joined the Baptist church as a young girl. In her later years, she attended the Presbyterian church at Pitzer and Winterset.

She was a kind, faithful and loving wife and mother, and was well thought of by her friends and neighbors.

She spent five years at the Horton Nursing Home at Winterset, and so bravely accepted her afflictions.

Note: Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

BERTHA GONSETH DIED LAST THURSDAY

Mrs. Bertha Gonseth of Winterset died Thursday, April 17, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after five years of illness. She was 80 years of age.

Mrs. Gonseth was the former Bertha Mable Gensicke, daughter of Frederic and Emma Bortelt Gensicke. She was born in Ida county Oct 4, 1889. She came to Madison county at an early age, attending school at Peru and moved to Oklahoma in 1907, returning to Clarke county, Iowa in 1923, and back to Madison county in 1935. She moved from the farm to Winterset in 1965.

She was married at Winterset on Feb. 25, 1907, to Felix G. Gonseth. His death occurred in 1962.

She had been a member of the Baptist church since early life.

Mrs. Gonseth leaves three children Frederic H and Charles L. Gonseth of Earlham and Mrs. Emma Gene Binns of Winterset, eight grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Walter Jones of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
