BERT H. WATERS DIES AT 66 YEARS

Former Winterset Resident Dies at Hospital in Iowa City

Bert H. Waters, formerly of Winterset, died Feb. 22 at a hospital in Iowa City. He was 66 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.

Mr. Waters was born Oct. 6, 1900, a son of Samuel and Grace Johnson Waters. As a young man he lived in Sioux City. He was married at Winterset Jan. 19, 1933 to G. Fay Pace. They lived for 25 years in Des Moines, but at the time of his death were residents of Peru.

His wife survives him. He also leaves seven children, two of whom Harold and Dorothy were by a previous marriage. The other surviving children are Mrs. Leona Dale, Mrs. Joan Mines, Robert and John Waters, all of Des Moines, and Leonard Waters of the U.S. army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Other surviving relatives include nine grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Amelda Stuart of Indianola; and two brothers, Stephen and Virgil P Waters of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held from the Hamilton Funeral home East Des Moines Feb. 25. Burial was made in Glendale cemetery in Des Moines.

Bert H. Waters Rites Saturday

Services for Bert H. Waters, 66, of near Peru, formerly of Des Moines, will be Saturday noon at Hamilton's Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Waters, a retired construction worker, died of a lung tumor Wednesday at University Hospitals in Iowa City after a year's illness. Born at Omaha, Neb., he lived in Des Moines 25 years before moving to the Peru area five months ago.

Surviving are his wife, Fay; two daughters, Mrs. Leona Dale and Mrs. Joann Mines, and three sons, Robert, John and Leonard, all of Des Moines; a sister, Mrs. Amilda Stuart of Indianola; two brothers, Stephen and Virgil of Des Moines, and nine grandchildren.
