Sarah F. Stewart was born in Fulton county, Illinois, April 12, 1852 and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Clague, near Earlham, Iowa, Feb. 14, 1925 at the age of 72 years 10 months and 2 days. When about three years of age she moved with her parents to Madison county, and was a continuous resident here until her death. In 1879 she was united in marriage to John Anderson. Mrs. Anderson was the mother of four children, one of whom Freddie died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson made their home on the farm southwest of Earlham until 1909, when they moved to Earlham. Here the husband passed away in 1910 and Mrs. Anderson continued to reside until last summer when she took up her residence with her daughter.

When a young lady, she confessed her faith in the Christ, was buried with Christ in Christian baptism and was added to the church at North River, which was then holding services in the school house. After the organization of the Church of Christ in Earlham, she placed her membership there and remained a faithful member, serving as best she could as long as her heath permitted.

Mrs. Anderson was always of a kind, pleasing and cheerful disposition. Never did she complain of her lot. She had learned the great lesson taught by the apostle Paul “to be content with ____, (unreadable) as she had.” Her faithfulness to Christ and His church was remarkable. Many have been constrained to live and serve better because of her life.

She leaves to mourn her passing her three remaining children: Louis R. Anderson of Des Moines and Mrs. Emma Johnson and Mrs. Mae Clague, both of Earlham; five grandchildren; Sarah and Emma Johnson and John, Paul and Lloyd Clague. Besides these, a host of friends throughout the county will mourn the passing of one who tried by precept and example in live the Christ life.

Funeral services were held at the Early Chapel Church of Christ, Monday, Feb. 16th, conducted by M. B Pringle, Pastor of the church at Earlham, assisted by T. E. Spuring, pastor at Early Chapel. Interment was in Jackson township cemetery.
