Died on the Road.

A German family, the husband and father of whom gave his name as Ludwig Browart, buried a child at Winterset the other day. They could talk but little English and were traveling by wagon to Scott county, Missouri. When they came to town and made their sorrow known, E. R. Zeller was sent for as it was known he could talk to them in their native tongue. Mr. Wheeler, living near Middle river, had come to town with the family. Mr. Zeller at once proceeded to give the child a nice burial. The father had money to pay for a neat little coffin. The child, a little boy, was nicely washed, and dressed in a pretty robe, deposited in the coffin and taken to the cemetery, where Mr. Zeller read some passages of scripture from a German Lutheran testament and offered prayer, after which the remains were quietly covered up, and the parents proceeded on their journey. All in all it was a very befitting ceremony, and on the part of those who manifested so much interest was an act of a true Christian charity.
