Elton Thomas (Tommy) Faux, mayor of the town of Patterson since 1964 and a lifetime resident of Madison county, died Wednesday, September 19, 1973 at his farm in Crawford township. He was 58 years of age.

Mr. Faux was born November 5, 1914 in Patterson, the son of Thomas John Faux and the former Fanny Suzanne Bishop. He was married October 25, 1933 to Hazel Elizabeth Cole, who preceded him in death December 8, 1946. Mr. Faux married Anna Grace Hayden on July 3, 1947 in Clarke County, Iowa.

Actively engaged in farming before his death, Mr. Faux was employed from 1954 to 1966 by the federal Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Commission in Madison county. He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge and affiliated with the Methodist church in Patterson.

Surviving Mr. Faux is his wife, Anna Grace Faux; a daughter, Kathy Elizabeth Cunningham of Patterson; five sons, Willis Wayne Faux and Stanley Floyd Faux of Des Moines, Thomas John Faux of Patterson, Larry Dale Faux of Winterset, Jack Lee Faux of Augusta, Georgia and seventeen grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Elmer John Faux of Patterson and Bryon Faux of St. Charles.

Mr. Faux was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Gayle Faux; five brothers, Arthur, David, Floyd and George Faux and Aaron Bishop; three sisters, Mable Cooper, Melissa Handy and Rosa Faux and a granddaughter, Lisa Faux.

Funeral services for Mr. Faux were conducted Saturday Sept. 22 at 1:30 pm from Collins Funeral Home Winterset with burial at the Winterset Cemetery,.
