Carlton E. Null, formerly a well known Winterset resident, died Wednesday, March 8, 1967, at Veterans Home, Calif., according to word received by relatives here. He was 79 years of age.
Mr. Null was born in Winterset Nov. 26, 1887, a son of Finley E. and Sylvia Smith Null. His father was engaged in business in Winterset for many years. During World War I he served overseas in France as a cavalry lieutenant in the U. S. army.
Following the war, he operated a tailoring shop in Winterset, and was commissioned a captain in the Iowa National Guard to serve as first commanding officer of Winterset's National Guard Company when it was reorganized following World War I.
Mr. Null is survived by his wife, Dorothy; and by two sons, Paul and Wade Null.
Funeral services were held last Friday at Veterans Home, California.
