Obituary

Lawrence Earl Mitchell, youngest child of Charles and Amy Wilson Mitchell, was born on a farm north of Earlham on March 20, 1891. He grew to manhood in that vicinity, and on June 1, 1916 was united in marriage to Nellie Mabel Curts.

To this union was born two children: Gerald E. and Mary Marguerite. This couple started their married life farming near Earlham until 1942, when they moved to Indianola. For the past 13 ½ years, Earl had been court baliff at the Warren county court house.

Earl was a lifelong member of the Friends church, transferring his membership from the Bear Creek church to the Indianola Friends shortly after moving.

He entered Mercy hospital May 18, and passed away May 30 at the age of 75 years, 2 months and 10 days.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, only brother and two sisters. Left to mourn their loss are his wife, Nellie; son, Gerald of Council Bluffs; and daughter, Marguerite Foust of Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Christine Mitchell; son-in-law, Newell Foust; grandchildren, Larry Mitchell and Marjean and Eric Foust, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
