Gerald A. Barnett, the son of Clyde A. and Bernice Barnett, was born at Des Moines, Iowa on November 22, 1930 and departed from this life on February 2, 1966, at Bates Hospital in Bentonville, Arkansas at the age of 35 years, 2 months and 11 days.
He grew up in the Bear Creek community and attended high school at Earlham Community School. In 1948, he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in May, 1950.
He spent that summer helping his father. He then became employed at Delavan Mfg. factory in Des Moines for nine years. In June 1962 he accepted the position of General Manager and Vice President of Machine Products in Corydon, Iowa. He continued in this position till the time of death.
Jerry was converted at the age of fifteen in a revival meeting at the Bear Creek Friends church.
On December 4, 1965, Jerry and Arline Lockhold were united in holy matrimony at the Kimberling City Methodist Church in Kimberlin City, Mo. Many happy hours and memories will always be treasured. Jerry will be remembered as a person giving and helping in time of need.
He is survived by his wife, Arline; three children: Larry, Michael, Cheryle Ann; one stepson, Ricky Linn; his mother and father and many relatives and friends.
