Obituary
Eli John Fett, Garden Grove, California, former Dexter resident, died Thursday evening, February 25th at 6 o’clock at the age of 82 years, 4 months and 9 days, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Earl Cave, in Garden Grove, California.
The son of Phillip Fett and Mary Snyder Fett, he was born in Dallas county October 16th, 1882 and confirmed April 11th, 1897 by the Rev. L. Von Schenk in Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter. He was married to Jeanette E. Brown October 7th, 1902 in Linton Emmons County, North Dakota. To this union was born two children, a daughter Myrtle and son Paul.
They lived on a farm west of Penn Center until 1910 when they moved to Dexter where he did carpenter, painting and plumbing until 1926 when he engaged in the bulk oil business.
Following the death of his wife in May 1937 he continued in his business until 1943 and moved to California where he resided with his daughter, Mrs. Earl Cave.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Hollywood, California.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Cave of Garden Grove, California, one son Paul Fett of Atlantic, Iowa, two grandchildren Kenneth Cave and Darwin Fett and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services under the direction of Bufkin Funeral Home and were conducted at Zion Lutheran church in Dexter with the Rev. Norman Luecht officiating. Burial was in Penn Center cemetery. Casket bearers were Bert Jobst, Walter Schafer, Richard Clausen, Elvin Jones, Gilbert James and Max Mount.
