Obituary

Talitha Butler Patience was born at Albion, Nebraska, Boone County, July 30, 1892, the daughter of Isaac and Emma Fleming Butler. At the age of 4 years, she came to Earlham, Iowa, to make her home with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Junkin, where she lived as their own girl. She passed away March 15, 1964, at the Winterset Memorial Hospital.

On March 11, 1914, she was married to Andrew R. Patience of Shenandoah, Iowa. They went to their new home at Coin, Iowa, where they lived until 1944 when they moved to Dexter, Iowa.

To them were born seven children, three girls and four boys: Jennie Marcell Davies of Knoxville; Clara May Robinson of Bussey; Martha Jean Rief of Council Bluffs; Herbert Patience; Delbert R. Patience, of Mandan, North Dakota; Glen W. Patience of Earlham; and Marion L. Patience of Earlham, all of whom survive.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Patience was a leader in the girls 4-H work for many years, and served in whatever capacity she could in the WSCS of the Methodist church, of which she was a member.

She will long be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a good friend and neighbor.

The funeral service was held at Dexter in the Methodist church at 1:30 p.m., March 17 with Rev. John Latta officiating. Mrs. John Shepherd was organist, Mr. Robert Lawson, soloist. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
