Obituary

R. N. Beem was born in Jackson county, Ind. November 12, 1835, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walt Young, August 12, 1908, aged 73 years 9 months. He was married to Miss Elsie Newkirk on May 13, 1855, who preceded him to the better land March 10, 1907.

He came to Madison county in 1863 and made his home at Buffalo in Scott township, and was for a number of years miller at what was known as the Buffalo mills. He was the father of eleven children, eight of whom survive him. He was a member of the United Brethern (Brethren) church. He was a kind father and loving husband and was highly respected by all who know him.

The funeral was held from the home this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett
