A dispatch Monday morning from Eveston, Wyoming, to Albert strong, master of the Masonic lodge at Winterset, from the master of the Lodge at Eveston, stated that Ora George had been killed in that city. Word was immediately sent to George’s mother and sister, Mrs. Sawhill, who live on the old farm 10 miles west of town.
There are no particulars of how George met his death. He was a fireman on the U. P. railroad. His wife lives at Villisca and was expected to go to Eveston in a few days. They had only been married a year. George will be buried at Villisca.

To Hamilton Lee we are indebted for the particulars of Ora George’s death, mentioned on the inside page of this issue. George was firing an engine drawing the fast mail. Hilliard, Wyoming, the engine struck a rock that had fallen on the track, throwing the engine and two mail cars down a 25 foot embankment. George jumped but fell on the rails, killing him instantly. Engineer Lefthridge went down with the engine and was instantly killed. His body was covered by the debris of the wreck.
The Masons of Eveston took charge of the body and several firemen of the U. P. Road accompanied it to the Villisca where it was interred. George was a member of Winona Lodge, of Pitzer. Robert Stewart, Hamilton Lee and J. F. Crow, all members of Pitzer lodge, went to Villisca to attend the funeral. His mother and sisters, Mrs. Cross, Mrs. Sawhill and Mrs. Bruett, Mr. Bruett, Mr. Sawhill and Mr. Cook were all present.
