VERN "DEEON" THOMPSON, Truro

Vern " Deeon" Thompson, age 70, died at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN on Sunday, September 14, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the Redfield Christian Church with burial in South Oak Grove Cemetery in Stuart, Iowa.

Vern was a life-long farmer in the Truro area and was a teacher with the Mt. Ayr, Earlham, and South Harrison Schools for several years. Vern is survived by his wife Rhoda Thompson of Truro; son Paul and wife Mel of Maryville, MO, granddaughter Chelsey Smith; daughter, Lisa Craig and husband Shannon, and grandchildren Shaylynn, Cole and Lexi of Stanberry, MO; son Rick and wife Stacy and grandson Blake of Omaha, NE; son Tom and wife Laura of Union Star, MO; sister, Darlene Chinberg of Redfield; brother, Bobby Thompson and wife Madeline of Waukee; sister, Judy Parker and husband Norman of Jefferson, many nieces and nephews, friends and former students who will greatly miss him.

Visitation will be at the Redfield Christian Church on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m., where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Iowa.
