BILL KING, Lorimor

Charles “Bill” King, 75, of Lorimor died Sept. 9, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 12, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery with military honors performed by American Legion Post 96 of Lorimor. Memorials may be directed to the Lorimor Fire and Rescue or American Legion Post 96 of Lorimor.

Bill King was born April 15, 1933, to George and Daisy Dell (Herren) King of Macksburg. Following graduation from Lorimor High School, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. His marriage to Barbara Jo Dowler took place Aug. 10, 1953, in Fort Belvoir, Va. They resided in Indianola where they raised their family and then moved briefly to Dubuque and Sioux City, retiring in Lorimor. Bill was a senior executive with Metz Baking. He also was a member of the American Legion and Lakeshore Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a grandson, Ryan Shields.

He is survived by Dr. Mark King of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Debby Goble of Afton and Sherri King of Lorimor; two brothers, John King of Creston and George King of Treynor; a sister, Mary Jo Lowry of Urbandale; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
