Mrs. Melick Died Wednesday Morning

Mrs. Claudia Melick, who has been in failing health for the past several months, died at the Madison County Memorial hospital early Wednesday morning.

She had lived in the east part of Earlham for many years. Her husband, C. A. Melick, who was a bridge engineer for the United States Department of Public Roads, preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by a cousin who lived in Washington D.C. Funeral services are pending.

Obituary

Claudia Dean Melick, widow of the late Cyrus A. Melick, and daughter of Albert H. Dean and Mantha Swain Dean, was born on August 4, 1883, at New Sharon, Iowa, and departed from this life on April 17, 1963, at the Madison County Memorial hospital at Winterset, Iowa, after an illness of six months duration.

Preceding her marriage, Mrs. Melick was a teacher in the Madison County public schools.

The Melicks made their home for many years in Lansing, Michigan, where he was associate professor of Civil Engineering at Michigan State College. After her husband accepted a position with the Bureau of Public Roads, the Melicks established permanent residence in the town of Earlham, where Mrs. Melick lived until the time of her death.

The funeral services was held at the Evans Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa, on April 19, 1963, with L. Willard Reynolds, pastor of the local Friends church, in charge. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
